About the data
Every source and when it was read. The sea is read again every morning at 09:30 IST; the newest week Global Fishing Watch has published ends 21 Oct 2026.
Global Fishing Watch
four of its datasets, read through its public API
Vessel presence
Global Fishing Watch
each vessel's position in each hour it broadcast, about 1 km, with name, number, flag and kind: the week of 15 Oct to 21 Oct 2026

Powered by Global Fishing Watch
Global Fishing Watch makes these data free for non-commercial use, with this credit on every page that shows them. Lehar is free to read and is not part of anything Maplore sells.
The ground under it
read once; they change by the year
Maritime boundaries
Marine Regions, Flanders Marine Institute: the exclusive economic zones of India and its neighbours. Drawn at sea only.

Coastline
Natural Earth, land at 1:10 million, from the Red Sea to the Malacca Strait.

Lighthouses
183 lighthouses and their rhythms from the US NGA List of Lights, as joined for Deepstambh.
Weather radars
20 India Meteorological Department radar stations within 60 km of a light, each drawn at its listed range.
What each vessel has
of 5,703 vessels in the week; a field the broadcast does not give stays empty
Gear is counted over the 707 fishing vessels.
Not shown
named here so no page implies it
Boats without AIS
Most of India's small fishing boats. What they carry, if anything, does not reach a public feed.
Warships
Navies need not broadcast, and the map shows no vessel as naval.
Catch, licences, owners
None of these is in a broadcast. A foreign boat's licence to fish, if any, is not public here.
Positions between hours
A vessel is drawn straight from one hour's position to the next. Its true path between them is not known.
Not for navigation
A picture of broadcasts a few days old, not a chart or a live plot. Mariners use the current charts and their own AIS.
